While the Edmonton Oilers went into the Four Nations break red-hot, they've been anything but coming out of it, as their latest loss to the Florida Panthers by a score of 4-3 has made it five straight defeats.
That type of play can clearly weigh on the top stars of a team, and that's what seemingly happened with Leon Draisaitl during the road defeat in Florida, as he kicked the bench door as he departed the ice following the tight loss.
In the loss, Draisaitl had a goal and a differential of +2, so he clearly wasn't the issue for the Oilers in this one, and given their play defensively as of late, it's very easy to see which group that No. 29 would be frustrated with.
Over the years, Draisaitl has proven that he's not a very outwardly emotional person however, so to see either he or Connor McDavid react in this matter is a big deal, with the team now having one more matchup on the road against Carolina before heading home for a three-game home stand.
This all comes after GM Stan Bowman reiterated his belief in Stuart Skinner and the Oilers goaltending, who have now given up 21 goals in their last four games, and with the team falling behind Vegas in the Pacific Division, there are plenty of questions left to be answered.
Ultimately, teams will go through ups and downs like this throughout a season, and if the team can continue to work hard and fight to stay in games, there will be plenty of success coming their way, but if they can't figure out the goaltending and the defensive woes, this team may not have the ceiling that many believed they had coming into the season.
