A pair of Western Conference teams linked to Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane with just over a month to go until training camps open.

Evander Kane is set to enter his fourth season as a member of the Edmonton Oilers and is looks like he'll be ready to go right out of the gate, something that was uncertain back in July after it was revealed he was dealing with a hip injury.

According to the 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast, Evander Kane will be ready for training camp next month and is even planning to participate in the Oilers' captain skates in early September. This is great news for Oilers fans because there was some that were worrying that Kane may need to go on LTIR to start the season, but thankfully for them, that won't be the case.

Kane has two years remaining on his contract with the Oilers with an average annual value of $5.125 million and while his name has come up in trade rumours, the Vancouver native isn't in a rush to leave the city, with him and his family happy to stay in Edmonton. Kane's contract also includes a full no-movement clause, so if the Oilers were to try and move him at any point between now and the end of his contract in 2026, he would have the final say.

While Kane is content in Edmonton, that hasn't stopped teams from showing interest in landing the nine-time 20+ goal scorer. The 2 Mutts Hockey Podcast went on to add that a pair of teams in the Oilers' division, the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings, have have interest in trading for Evander Kane.

The Oilers are in a bit of a pickle when it comes to their cap situation and while trading Kane would certainly help, it doesn't look like that'll happen, at least before the start of the 2024-25 season. Edmonton currently has negative cap space, $-354,167 to be exact, and still have a pair of restricted free agent they need to get under contract - Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. General Manager Stan Bowman is in for a busy couple of months as he tries to get the team under the salary cap by the time opening night rolls around.
