William Lockwood of the Florida Panthers has been suspended after hitting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury of the Minnesota Wild

The NHL's Department of Player Safety wasn't messing around with this one. William Lockwood of the Florida Panthers has earned himself some time on the sidelines after a hit on Marc-Andre Fleury of the Minnesota Wild last night.

The hit happened behind Fleury's net as he was attempting the play the puck.

The official decision stated Lockwood made "high, forceful contact with [Fleury's] head" while suspending him for three games.

"The onus is on Lockwo0d to change his angle of approach, lower his speed, or otherwise find a way to avoid or minimize a forceful hit directly to the head of an opponent

The hit led to a fight between Lockwood and Brandon Duhaime not long after that can be considered payback, as Duhaime dropped him with a hard punch.
