Minnesota Wild goaltender and future hockey Hall of Famer Marc-Andre Fleury is entering the final season of his illustrious career. During that time, he will have the fortune to wear beautiful masks.
Mask one features an animal head, presumably a bear with his mouth wide open showing teeth. The logos of the three remaining major sports teams are on each side. The Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Timberwolves & Minnesota Twins primary logs adorn both sides. Trees and birds represent the vast forest and wildlife you can find in rural Minnesota and of course, flowers, represent Fleury's nickname, Flower.
Mask two is essentially identical except for a slightly different colour scheme(white instead of green sky).
The third and final mask that Griff Airbrush designed for Fleury is more simplistic but also beautiful. It features a white base with an "M" on each side which is painted green and outlined in yellow. The cage itself is also yellow. The colours are an ode to the original Minnesota team, the North Stars that represented the state from 1967-2003.
The Masks are unique in their way and not only incapsulate Fleury's personality but the beauty, knowledge and history of Minnesota hockey, the state itself and many of the elements in which it is.
Much like Fleury himself who was one of the classiest most likeable players and certainly teammates in the history of the National Hockey League the masks he'll wear were designed with precision and perfection. Two words of many that can describe Fleury as fans get to experience one last hurrah from a world-class goaltender and human.
