MNinnesota Wild announce long term extension with Brock Faber
The Minnesota Wild have locked up a key piece of their core for the next 8 years. 21 year old Brock Faber who has skated in 84 games for the Minnesota Wild contributing 8 goals along with 39 assists for 47 points will be around until at least the 2032 season.
Faber who was drafted in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings was traded to the Wild in the Kevin Fiala deal in June of 2022. Faber was a finalist for the Calder Trophy however went head to head with eventual winner Connor Bedard.
Having Faber commit long term gives the Wild an opportunity to focus on rebuilding or retooling their franchise in the hopes of making it to the Stanley Cup final and ultimately winning the trophy. If Bedard had not been a finalist for the Calder Trophy, it is likely with the season Faber had he would have won the trophy outright.
While only playing 84 games in the NHL, Faber has shown that he has the tools to be a top notch defenceman in the league while contributing in key situations for the Wild in the year plus he has been a professional hockey player.
