According to new information from Montreal radio broadcaster Martin McGuire of 98.5FM, Carey Price will accompany the Montreal Canadiens to their game in Toronto tonight.
This will be the first and only time this season that Price has flown with the team. With his playing days over because of injury, but still being paid $10.5M a year until 2026, Price is in half-retired stage as a fixture on the long term injury list.
As such, although he is travelling with the team, Price will not play for the Canadiens tonight or even serve as an emergency backup. In any form, Price is completely unable to play. Instead, he'll probably take in the game from the press box with other teammates not playing tonight.
This event of Price travelling with the team might end up being his last appearance as a Hab, taking in one final rivalry game with the Toronto Maple Leafs. As time goes on and Price is further removed from his playing days, and as the roster becomes younger players with whom he has no connection, it's not likely Price will make frequent appearances although under contract.
Fans should use this opportunity just as Carey Price likely is - to take in one last rivalry game with an appearance from one of the greatest goalies in the most storied franchise's history.
