The Los Angeles Kings waived 29-year old Andreas Englund on Sunday, and now, he's officially been picked up by the Nashville Predators.

Despite the NHL taking a break for the Four Nations Face Off, transactions didn't stop on Sunday, with two players, including an intriguing Los Angeles Kings defenseman being officially placed on waivers.

Now, the Nashville Predators have taken this opportunity to add a new piece to their roster, as top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has now revealed that they have officially claimed veteran Andreas Englund from the Kings.

The 29-year old was a second-round pick of the Ottawa Senators back in the 2014 NHL Draft, but since that point he has appeared in just 173 games, playing in all 82 for the first time in his career a season ago with the Kings.

However, with the return of Drew Doughty and the emergence of Brandt Clarke among other reasons, he's now simply not needed on the roster after playing in 11 games this season, putting up just 1 goal during that stretch.

Now, he joins a Predators blue line that has opportunities for him to find a major role moving forward, as the team continue to look for a way to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a dreadful start to the 2024/25 campaign.

With the likes of Luke Schenn, Brady Skjei, Roman Josi and Justin Barron in the defensive group already, it won't be easy for Englund to earn a role, but if he can find the great form and be the shutdown defender that we saw a season ago for the Kings, this could end up being a very good and very cheap pickup for the Predators as they hope their turnaround can continue.
