Nashville Predators prospect Yaroslav Askarov has been linked to two teams as he looks for fresh start with another organization.
This summer, rumours have been swirling regarding Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov potentially being on the move, especially after the team locked up Juuse Saros to an eight-year contract extension, which kicks in ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. With Saros between the pipes for the next nine years, Askarov's path to the National Hockey League is blocked and it appears he wants to leave the organization.
Earlier on Monday, ESPN's Kevin Weekes shared on his social media account that Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov has reportedly asked the team for a trade and has told them that he will not report to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals.
Hours after Weekes' report, Predators General Manager Barry Trotz came out with a statement saying that the team is aware of the news and expect him to be at training camp in September to compete for a spot on the opening night roster.
There's no doubt that several organizations around the National Hockey League would like to add Yaroslav Askarov to their roster and a pair of teams have already been linked to the 22-year-old netminder.
According to Michael Gallagher, two teams he's been told to keep an eye on regarding Yaroslav Askarov are the Carolina Hurricanes and San Jose Sharks.
Last season, the Omsk, Russia had a record of 30-13-1 in 44 games with Milwaukee along with a 2.39 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and six shutouts. Meanwhile, in three NHL games with the Nashville Predators, Askarov is 1-1-0 with a 2.57 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
