Devils sign former first-round pick to one-year deal
The New Jersey Devils have decided to add to their depth on the blue line by signing a former first-round pick.
According to reports, the New Jersey Devils have signed defenceman Cal Foote to a one-year, two-way contract worth $800,000 at the NHL level.
"#NJDevils have signed Cal Foote to a one-year deal: $800K / $350K with a $450K AHL guarantee"
Foote, 24, spent the 2022-23 season with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators, who added him in late-February following a trade involving forward Tanner Jeannot.
Between the Lightning and Predators, the Denver native skated in 50 games where he recorded seven points (two goals, five assists), 63 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
Foote will likely be competing for a spot on the Devils' third defensive pairing and could end up being the team's seventh defenceman, at least to start the season.
