New Jersey Superstar Jack Hughes has injury extent revealed
The New Jersey Devils playoff hopes were slim at best with the team five points back of the final Wild Card position. Today's injury news has officially ended any hopes of the team making the playoffs this season.
The decision has been made that franchise center Jack Hughes will have season ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday.
New Jersey released the following via social media.
"In recent conversations with Jack, his family and representatives, and the Devils' athlete care staff, it was determined that Jack should be held out of game action for the rest of this season and proceed with shoulder surgery.
He will undergo the surgery on April 10 and is expected to make a full recovery to be available for 2024 New Jersey Devils Training Camp."
Hughes has scored 27 goals and 74 points in 62 games this season. The 22 year old is on a bargain contract, signed until the end of the 2029-30 season, carrying a cap hit of $8M
