When Jordan Binnington led the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup victory in his rookie season, it felt like the Blues had found their long-term solution in goal. Binnington burst onto the scene delivering stellar goaltending, leading the Blues from last place in the NHL to a Cup victory. It was a Cinderella Story if you'd ever heard one. Fast forward to today and it appears the shine has worn off for in St. Louis.

Gone are the days Binnington was viewed as one of the best upcoming goalies in the game. Replaced by story after story, of the unhinged goalie making life more difficult for his own team and himself. Binnington's biggest issue throughout his career has been his temper.

While early in his career the Blues were willing to accept some of his shenanigans, it appears the shine has worn off. After another year outside of the playoffs it now appears General Manager, Doug Armstrong is finally ready to move on from the polarizing goalie.

According to Elliotte Friedman, this summer will be the year that the Blues look to make major changes, including moving on from Binnington.

Last summer the Blues attempted to reimagine their blue line in front of their goalies, but after Torey Krug enforced his no movement clause, the Blues were limited in their choice. At this year's deadline, rumors swirled that St. Louis was once again looking to move out major salary. After failing to once again move a defender, it now appears that changes will be even more widespread.

This season in 55 games, Binnington has a record of 28-20-4, a save percentage of .911 and a 2.88 goals against average. It's unclear how many teams would be interested in taking on a contract like Binnington's, but more than his $6,000,000 cap hit, any team interested in making this deal will be forced to deal with the extra items that Binnington brings.

Binnington has proves he has what it takes to win games when it matters, but he still comes labeled, buyer beware.
