The 2023-24 season is officially set to get underway tomorrow evening with a trio of games including Connor Bedard's NHL debut. On Monday at 5 p.m. ET however, rosters are due to the National Hockey League, which means that Sunday was the last day to put a player on waivers and have them clear before opening night roster are finalized.

According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, four players were claimed off waivers on Monday afternoon. The Colorado Avalanche have claimed goaltender Ivan Prosvetov from the Arizona Coyotes, while the Ottawa Senators have claimed Lassi Thomson off waivers from Anaheim. Thomson is now able to assigned to Ottawa's AHL team after they've re-claimed him. Meanwhile, the Calgary Flames have claimed A.J. Greer from Boston and John Ludvig has been claimed by Pittsburgh from Florida.

On Monday, only one player was placed on the waiver wire according to TSN's Chris Johnston. Let's take a look at the full waiver list for October 9th:

Monday's Waiver List
Ross Johnston (New York Islanders)

As is always the case from the opening of the waiver wire until the end of October, the order of teams that can place a claim is based off of last season's standings in reverse. The Anaheim Ducks get the first crack at placing a claim on any of the players above, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks.

If Ross Johnston goes unclaimed on Tuesday afternoon, he'll be assigned to the Islanders' American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport.
