When the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings, the thought was that they had found their defensive anchor for some time. Unfortunately injuries got in the way and that's not how things have played out. Muzzin played in just 4 games at the beginning of last season before going on LTIR

Now according to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Puck Reporter, Muzzin has officially retired and joined the Leafs as a pro scout; take a look.

Jake Muzzin has retired and is joining #LeafsForever as a pro scout

Muzzin, 34, had a 12-year career and although he hasn't officially retired, this move spells the end of his playing days. He played for the Los Angeles Kings and the Maple Leafs where he suited up for 683 NHL games compiling 294 points which included 69 goals and 225 assists, while winning 2 Stanley Cups as a member of the Kings

This is a great move by both the Maple Leafs and Muzzin, who even when unable to play was still around the team providing a spark to the players in the locker room.
