Twitter user @MadHatter_Omaha shared the images of the new uniform on their account on Friday morning. It shows the Rangers' shield logo on a navy/dark blue uniform with red, white and royal blue striping. Another feature is inside the collar where it says the team's nickname, 'BLUESHIRTS', along with what appears to be either tile from the New York City subway system or the roof of Madison Square Garden. The tag of the uniform also reads 'NYR THIRD', indicating that it is in fact the Rangers' new third jersey.
This will be the first time that the New York Rangers will wear this specific logo on a uniform since the 1977-78 season, which was the last year of a failed re-brand that didn't go over well with the fans, leading the team to revert back to their famous diagonal wordmark. The Rangers have worn an altered version of their shield logo though, which came during the 2012 Winter Classic.
It's unclear when the New York Rangers will officially announce and unveil the new uniform, but it'll likely be very soon, given that images have already leaked online of a physical jersey. Over the years, plenty of third jerseys have been released in the month of November, so it's quite possible that we are weeks, possibly days away from them being unveiled.
This won't be the only new uniform the Rangers will be wearing during the 2023-24 season. In February, they're set to take on the New York Islanders in the 2024 Stadium Series, which will bring yet another jersey for the organization, but that one likely won't be released until at least a month before puck drop.
