UFA forward Patrick Kane linked to four teams ahead of 2023-24 season
We're over a month into unrestricted free agency and one of the biggest names still out there is Patrick Kane. This was to be expected thought, given that Kane underwent hip resurfacing surgery earlier this summer and likely won't be able to play until November or December.
With that in mind, there are still several teams around the league that would be more than happy to add a three-time Stanley Cup champion and future Hall of Famer to their lineup.
In his recent mailbag article on The Athletic, Arthur Staple linked Patrick Kane to four teams - the Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, his hometown Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers, where he was dealt to by Chicago earlier this year.
"And then Kane has to choose them. He might choose Edmonton or Colorado, or maybe Buffalo, depending on who can squeeze a modest cap hit in and which team Kane feels has the best chance to win. I have heard he really enjoyed his brief Rangers stint and would love a shot to show what he can do there when healthy, which he definitely was not in the spring." Staple said.
Kane, 34, has been recovering quite well from his surgery as only a few weeks after he went under the knife, a video was shared that showed him working out.
The Buffalo native still managed to put up nearly 60 points between the Blackhawks and Rangers despite his hip injury. In 73 games, Kane had 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-22.
