The New York Rangers season appears to be falling apart, and now the team are looking to make some moves by shopping veteran forward Jimmy Vesey as they look to make some changes to a team that has continued to struggle in recent times.
After moving captain Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko in recent times as well as falling to 3-11-0 in their last 10 overall games, the New York Rangers appear to be a team that's ready to make a huge move in the coming days as they continue to fall apart.
Now, we may know who the next player to be moved is, as the Rangers are now reportedly shopping veteran forward Jimmy Vesey, who has been with the team for the past three years in his second stint with the Rangers according to a report from Arthur Staple of The Athletic.
According to the report, Vesey could cost an opposing team either a fourth or a fifth round draft pick, and given the production that he's had in recent years on the Rangers fourth line, that appears to be a solid return for the team.
Once a superstar at the college level with Harvard University, Vesey disappointed with his first stint in New York, but since returning in 2022/23, he's been solid for the team, posting 26 and 25 points over the past two full seasons.
This year, Vesey has posted just 2 goals and 3 points in 17 games played with New York, and at 31-years of age, the belief is that he can be unlocked in a new environment where he gets a better opportunity.
Ultimately, Vesey may have never become the star that many expected after a Hobey Baker Award win before heading to the Big Apple, but he's become a serviceable bottom-six forward, and if the Rangers don't turn it around, it makes perfect sense for them to move on from him.
