Former LA Kings Forward Bad Mouths Team After Being Claimed on Waivers by New York Rangers
Former Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev had a few choice comments for the club after he was claimed on waivers by the Rangers yesterday.
The Rangers picked up Arthur Kaliyev on waivers from LA yesterday as the team continues to spiral this season.
The Rangers have fallen well out of the playoff race, all the way to 7th place in the Metro Division.
They are just 3-7-0 over their last ten games as well so they are continuing to lose ground and lose their grip on the season.
Arthur Kaliyev may be a piece for the team to build with in the future, but he is unlikely to make an impact immediately.
The 23-year-old has 2 points in 5 AHL games this year and has yet to skate in an NHL game.
Perhaps this is why the Kings elected to waive him. Regardless, he seems excited at the change of scenery.
"I didn't expect it, obviously, but it's kind of like a dream come true. I grew up watching and obviously living down here for a long time. I used to always come watch games here (at Madison Square Garden). It's crazy. Not much more words you can say."
That being said, Kaliyev didn't just have nice things to say about the Rangers after he found out he was moving across the country.
He also took a subtle shot at the Kings organization, saying that he had been looking for a chance to leave, 'for a long time.'
"Been looking for it for quite a bit of time."
Kaliyev has not been trending in the right direction the last couple of seasons, but at 23 years old, he certainly still has time to improve.
In a somewhat limited sample size, he has shown to be useful at the NHL level even if his points production has not been the best, so perhaps the Rangers can help unlock his potential.
