Last season, Matt Rempe made an immediate impact in the NHL with the New York Rangers, dropping the gloves with every heavyweight opponent such as Nic Deslaurier, Matt Martin and Kurtis MacDermid, but it was a showdown with Ryan Reaves that fans were most excited for. In March, the two dropped the gloves in a brief, exciting battle, with fans eagerly anticipating the next time they would appear across from each other on the ice.
Now, we know when that will happen, as the Rangers have confirmed that Rempe will appear in his second game of the season, and after some healthy scratches, Reaves appears in the lineup as well, signalling a big time showdown could be happening.
After last season and the condition we saw Rempe in several times, it's clear that the Rangers may be trying to protect him from himself, but with the team needing that physical play against the likes of Ryan Reaves, it makes sense to slot him into the lineup.
Neither man has made a huge impact for their respective teams thus far in 2024/25, but with both teams coming in with just one loss to their name, this should be an incredible battle, and with this possibility looming over the game, it will add another element to an exciting clash. While this doesn't guarantee a fight, with the style that both men play, it's a safe assumption to make, and with the atmosphere at ScotiaBank Arena on a Saturday Night against an Original Six opponent, it has all the makings of an epic clash, with these two ready to drop the gloves if needed.
