The New York Rangers have been looking to shake things up, and they have done that with one trade, and now a top executive believes they should target Brad Marchand.

This season hasn't quite gone the way that either the Boston Bruins or New York Rangers would have hoped, but after some big moves as of late, both look to turn things around and push for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Now, ESPN's Greg Wyshynski has revealed a shocking take from one NHL executive, who suggested a surprise one-for-one trade that could shake up the season for both Original Six franchises.

"Chris Kreider for Brad Marchand ... who says no?"

Given that both men have spent their entire careers with their respective teams, who have the natural Boston vs. New York rivalry, it's certainly safe to say that both players would likely object to the potential deal.

Both players play a similar type of style, both preferring to get down and dirty around the net, with Kreider's 50 goal campaign in 2021/22 certainly representing the best career year of either of these players.

While Marchand doesn't have the natural goal scoring ability of Kreider, he brings the leadership and the grit that New York have been missing, making it very intriguing for both.

There were many reactions to this proposed trade, with some fans in the comments seeing this as a win for Boston while others believe New York would get the better of it.

It's unclear if either team would potentially weigh this up if other assets were involved, but given that both men are underperforming this season, it's one that fans could buy into if the simple change could spark things for both teams.

Ultimately, this is likely a deal that would never go through, but in theory it's fun to talk about, especially given that both these organizations are looking to shake things up this season.
