Trade talk around Rangers captain Jacob Trouba has hit an all-time high, and now NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has provided a huge update on this.

If the New York Rangers decide to deal defenseman Jacob Trouba, the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Detroit Red Wings might be his most serious suitors, as the rumors of either a trade or waivers have really ramped up today.

These will likely be the final days of Jacob Trouba in a Rangers jersey. It's all but been determined that his time in New York is coming to an end.

The veteran defenseman wasn't even on the ice for practice earlier today and will not suit up Friday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was a scratch due to "roster management," which pretty much cements the fact a move is coming for him.

Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette also commented on the Trouba situation, stating that he and GM Chris Drury are both on the same page.

It is said that the Rangers are looking for ways to trade or waive Trouba; already two teams are listed in context with this defender.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, one such franchise which is to be considered with respect to the context of the negotiations going on now is the Columbus Blue Jackets.

USA Today's Vince Z. Mercogliano thinks that another landing place for Trouba may be the Detroit Red Wings.

The interest of the Detroit Red Wings in Trouba isn't new; during the offseason, there were reports of the Red Wings having interest in him.

Though those discussions did not materialize into a deal back then, the sustained interest makes them serious suitors in this developing situation.

Another team that was mentioned was the Ottawa Senators, as it has been made known the Rangers have quite the interest in captain Brady Tkachuk, so it will be worth keeping an eye on that situation as well.

Emily Kaplan has also revealed that another team of interest in the Jacob Trouba saga is the Buffalo Sabres, as they definitely have a weakness on the back end and could use a player like him to solidify the position.

As this story develops, expect more word later today on the future of Trouba, but for now, both Columbus and Detroit are ready to capitalize on this and secure the experienced D-man.

This move might very well shape the fortunes of both these franchises for a while.
