Brady Tkachuk understands the frustration, but he doesn't think fans are dealing with it in the right way.
Tkachuk and his Ottawa Senators were beaten 6-4 by the Tampa Bay Lightning last night to drop to 4-6-0. Fans are understandably upset as this was supposed to be a comeptitive year for the team. Following the game, Tkachuk said he gets it, but he doesn't think they should be booing players or calling for the coach to be fired.
"It's frustrating and whenever you don't win it's frustrating. It's frustrating, the negativity from the outside, the constant booing and the bullst, kind of, from the crowd tonight.
I understand that they're passionate fan base and I understand that they love it, but when you face adversity you don't turn your back on the guys out there. We're playing hard, I know it's frustrating right now. It's not like we're giving up out there, we're fighting right to the very end."
While it's nice of the captain to try and shift blame from the coach, something will have to give soon if the Sens don't improve. And it always seems to be the coach who takes the blame, whether they deserve it or not. Ottawa will be no different. Smith is hanging by a thread at the moment and needs wins to turn around his fortunes.
