Insider provides embarrassing update on Ottawa Senators sale, as things begin to fall apart
When thing began it seemed like the NHL and the Ottawa Senators were set to break NHL record with their upcoming sale. Fast forward two months and celebrity Ryan Reynolds and his ownership group, who were the favorites to buy the team, didn't even place a bid. Now things are taking an even bigger turn for the worse.
At this time reports state that only 3 groups remain in the bidding process. However, the Neko Sparks group is reportedly still trying to find investors to try and fulfill the money in their offer. Something many consider to be "not a good sign" at this point in the process.
Now Elliotte Friedman has revealed some additional news that should be considered concerning to everyone.
Everyone here who is supposed to be in control of the process has lost control of it. And, it's been this way for quite some time. I don't know if there has ever been another sale process like this that I can remember.
This is a terrible look for the Senators and the league. With only two full days left in the month of May, the Ottawa Senators find themselves without a direction. Multiple reports state that the new ownership group could choose to terminate current General Manager, Pierre Dorion.
But where does that leave the Senators?
The Sens have a lot of very important dates coming up, including a potential qualifying offer deadline date for Alex DeBrincat. For a team that appeared to show so much promise last season, it's clear Gary Bettman has once again found a way to embarrass the league throughout this entire process.
