Vladimir Tarasenko, one of the biggest names who had yet to sign a new NHL deal, has done so. Tarasenko has signed a short-term deal, with a major cut in pay.
Tarasenko's deal is for just one year, with a cap hit of $5 million. Tarasenko had been making $7.5 million for the past eight years. In signing the 31 year old forward, Sens GM Pierre Dorion pointed to his goal-scoring and playoff experience as major factors in the decision.
Taransenko had his worst season in many in 2022-23. Split between the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers, he had 18 goals and 50 points.
