Claude Giroux's Ottawa Senators were hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs last night at Canadian Tire Centre. Ottawa got the win with a 2-1 victory, Giroux provided an assist. His evening unfortunately took a turn for the worse when his car was stolen overnight.

His wife, Ryanne Giroux, posted the news on social media, asking for anyone's help seeing that she has been unable to get a hold of Ottawa police. She also stated that the car was still on the move.

"Good morning Ottawa! @28CGiroux 's car was stolen last night and is currently actively driving unable to get ahold of @OttawaPolice until 10am looking for other suggestions/to hear from other people in Ontario who have sadly had to deal with this recently 😵‍💫"

What adds to the infuriation is the Giroux's can track the vehicle driving on the road but can't do anything about it until the Ottawa Police can respond at 10 AM. Great value on our tax dollars!

Car thefts have been a real scourge in this country for several years. Many criminals are stealing targeted vehicles in Quebec and Ontario and then sending them overseas through the Port of Montreal.

The 36 year old, Giroux signed a three-year deal with his hometown Ottawa Senators in the summer of 2022. He carries a cap hit of $6.5M. In 82 games last season, Giroux scored 21 goals and 64 points while averaging 20:05 in ice time.

Giroux made the decision to come home to play for his hometown team, so seeing him dealing with this theft is just a stark reminder of how far things have fallen. Hopefully the police can locate the vehicle, but I wouldn't hold out hope.
