If I'm Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland, I'm at least taking a good long look at making this acquisition from the waiver wire. The Philadelphia Flyers have put a goaltender up for grabs.
While Felix Sandstrom is being sent back to the minors pending clearing the wire tomorrow, he has yet to play a game in the NHL this season. In 25 career NHL games, he has a record of 3-16-4, with a goals against average of 3.68 and a save percentage of 0.887.
"Transaction: We have placed goaltender Felix Sandstrom on waivers." - Philadelphia Flyers
Sandstrom's numbers aren't great, but it's essentially a risk-free acquisition for Holland if he wanted to take a chance. The team's current starter, Stuart Skinner, is at a 3.39 GAA and a 0.873 save percentage in 12 games this season.
Sandstrom is the only player to hit the waiver wire today. Austin Czarnik, placed on waivers yesterday by the Detroit Red Wings, has cleared and will be sent to the AHL.
