During a recent radio interview, Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Daniel Briere said that he will listen to offers on star goaltender Carter Hart, although he still believes the Sherwood Park native is their netminder of the future.

"I would say, most likely, Carter is going to be our goalie of the future," Briere said.. "Now I'm not in a position to turn down anything. If there's teams calling about him we have to listen, that's my job as a general manager. I have to listen, I have to do what's best for the team and the organization."

Given Hart's age, ability and cap hit, there won't be a shortage of teams that'll be lining up for the opportunity to acquire him, if the Flyers do decide to move on from him. Hart has already played parts of five NHL seasons, but goaltenders take a bit longer to develop than forwards and defencemen, so the best years of his career are still to come.

Hart, 24, had a bounce back year in 2022-23 where he put up a record of 22-23-10 along with a 2.94 GAA, .907 save percentage and two shutouts. Next season will be Hart's final year of his current contract, which has an AAV of $3.979 million, and he'll become an RFA with arbitration rights in the summer of 2024.
