Philadelphia Flyers captain Sean Couturier has made a move that many feel indicates he's no longer interested in playing for the team

After being named the captain of the Philadelphia Flyers in February of this year, the latter half of the 2023-24 season was not an easy one for Sean Couturier. With the Flyers pushing a for a playoff spot after a surprising start to the year, Couturier found himself a healthy scratch for a some games, and the subject of criticism from Flyers head coach John Tortorella. Now, Couturier has made a move that may indicate he wants out.

Despite the fact that Couturtier is just finishing up year two of an eight-year contract with Philadelphia, the 31-year-old veteran has changed agents. There would be little reason to do so if Couturier wasn't seeking a trade.

"#Flyers captain Sean Couturier has changed agents. Now represented by Pat Brisson at CAA Sports."

Some of Brisson's higher profile clients include Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche, John Tavares of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Anze Kopitar of the LA Kings.

Couturier was clearly not ok with being made a healthy scratch earlier in the season, questioning his treatment with the team.

"I've been putting the work in for a while. I've been struggling, but I've been working on my game and it's frustrating the way I've been treated around here lately. But it is what it is."

Love him or hate him, Tortorella can certainly rub some players the wrong way, and it seems that's likely the case with Couturier. If Couturier is seeking a new team, his $7.75 million AAV certainly won't make it easy.
