Seattle Kraken announce they've fired their head coach
The NHL season ended less than 2 weeks ago, and teams have already begun to work on their roster for next season. For some teams that means changes on ice, but for other that means off ice changes. Today the Seattle Kraken made the announcement that they have made the decision to relieve the only Head Coach in franchise history of his job.
The news was first reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, who took to X to share this information.
Hearing the Seattle Kraken are making a coaching change. Dave Hakstol will be out.
Honestly surprised at this one. Second-round of playoffs in second season.
In 3 seasons in Seattle, Hakstol coached the team to one playoff appearance last season. Hakstol finishes his time in Seattle with a career record of 107-112-27. General Manager Ron Francis gave the following comment on the decision.
«Following our end-of-the-season review, we have decided to make a change at our head coach position. These decisions are never easy, but we feel this is a necessary step to help ensure our team continues to improve and evolve. Dave is a good coach and a terrific person. We wish him and his family all the best. We will begin our search for the Kraken's next head coach immediately.»
The Kraken will undergo a lengthy process as they search for their new Head Coach as they look to make a return to the playoffs sooner rather than later.
