The Philadelphia Flyers picked up a huge win on Saturday, but it wasn't enough for John Tortorella who swiftly called out centre Morgan Frost in the post-game.
After a slow start to the 2024/25 season, the Philadelphia Flyers have seemingly found their groove, with the team getting back to 9-10-2 through 21 games and getting them right in the range of the Stanley Cup Playoff race early in the season.
Their latest victory came against the Chicago Blackhawks on the back of an overtime winner from Matvei Michkov, as the rookie standout sent the Philly fans hope happy with the dramatic winner.
However, not all was good after the game, as Head Coach John Tortorella called out Morgan Frost after the game, singling him out for his competitive desire on the ice which he believes is lacking.
"I just want him to compete," said a frustrated Torotella. "The biggest thing for me with [Frost] is I just want him to compete."
Despite the call out, Tortorella reiterated that he believes in Frost, and if he can give 100% every time on the ice, he believes that the 25-year old will elevate the rest of his game, which has the potential to be a very high level.
"I think if he competes his offense will flourish," said Tortorella. "I just don't think there's enough competitiveness in him, and that's what I want out of him. I think other things will fall in place for him."
However, there's a chance that potential may be fulfilled elsewhere, as Frost has already been linked to several trades, with Insider Elliotte Friedman noting the Blackhawks are one of several potential landing spots for him.
He's not a complainer, prefers to keep any displeasure behind closed doors, but players want to play. Obviously, any dance needs partners who deal, but the Blackhawks, in dire need of centres, are one team that makes sense for him.
After topping 40 points in each of the last two years, there could be plenty of interest in Frost around the league, and whether or not he's moved, it's safe to say that Tortorella remains frustrated with his play, and that could lead to a huge move at some point this season.
