It's been less than a week since the Boston Bruins announced the firing of Jim Montgomery as head coach, and it seems he's already landed on his feet.
According to Frank Seravalli, Montgomery is already back in the NHL.
Indeed, the insider revealed that the coach was hired by the St. Louis Blues, who fired Drew Bannister from the head coaching position.

More from Chris Johnston:
The Blues organization shared the following press release:
Despite holding a 120-41-23 record throughout his journey in Boston, Don Sweeney, the team's general manager, decided to fire him and named Joe Sacco as interim head coach.
With Montgomery available, some teams looked at themselves in the mirror. It was widely believed that Montgomery wouldn't waste any time to get a new job in the NHL, and it seems the Blues didn't want to pass on the opportunity to add an experienced, talented coach to the organization.
As for Drew Bannister, he was named the Blues' interim head coach last year and signed a two-year contract at the end of the last season to become the official coach.
It'll be interesting to see if Montgomery will be able to help the Blues bounce back from their tough season start. As of now, they have a 9-12-1 record, good for the 6th position in the Central Division. Only the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks are worst, with 17 and 16 points in 21 games.
Blues fans will be eager to see what Montgomery brings to the table as the team looks to turn their season around.
As for the Bruins fans, they simply hope that Don Sweeney made the right decision. Currently, Sacco, the interim head coach, has a perfect record as head coach, with two wins in two games.
Let's see how long he'll be able to keep that up.
