NHL Insider reveals massive detail about Kyle Dubas new contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins
Kyle Dubas made it clear that for him it was Toronto or nowhere. That was until things feel apart between Dubas and the Maple Leafs. As things fell apart between the two parties, Fenway Sports Group was the biggest beneficiary.
FSG immediately reached out to the Maple Leafs and made it clear that Kyle Dubas was there guy. Upon receiving permission to speak to Dubas, FSG made quick work of the process reportedly making Divas one of the highest paid executives in the entire league.
Now President of Hockey Operations, Dubas has complete control of the Penguins and their hockey program. According to Elliotte Friedman FSG did everything in their power to make Dubas feel comfortable long-term revealing the team gave him a reported 7-year deal. This deal keeps Dubas in Pittsburgh until AT LEAST 2031.
This is a massive contract with the team and shows FSG's plan for Dubas is a long-term one. Now Dubas will have the opportunity to prove that the issues he faced in Toronto were out of his control and he'll be able to prove just how good at his job he can be.
