With the St. Louis Blues dropping to 13-14-1 on the season after last night's loss, the team fired head coach Craig Berube in an attempt to turn the season around before it got too far out of hand. The Blues GM addressed that decision with reporters today, and made a surprising statement.

While talking about the state of the Blues, Doug Armstrong shocked some by saying he doesn't believe he's helped the team at all.

"If I get fired in the next hour, or I get hit by a bus in the next hour, I don't feel today I've left it any better than where I found it. That's an awful feeling."

"I feel personally responsible for the situation that we're in."

Armstrong said that while he fired Berube, he believes he's too good of a coach not to land on his feet in a short while. He continued to take full responsibility for the team's current state, adding he has major regrets.

"That we're not a successful franchise. These are things you contemplate as an organization. You come to an organization because you want to make it better and you want to leave it in a better spot."

Armstrong is being somewhat modest. Under him, the St. Louis Blues won their only Stanley Cup during the 2018-19 season.
