Long-time NHL goaltender Brian Elliott has decided that it's time to hang up his skates and to call time on his professional hockey career.

On Monday, the St. Louis Blues announced details for their upcoming Development Camp and shared that Brian Elliott will join them to help with goaltending development and scouting, thus ending his 16-year career in the National Hockey League.

"Brian Elliott will join the #stlblues in a development role. Will work with amateur staff regarding future players. Steen spoke to Elliott. Armstrong reached out the next day and Elliott said he was available. Elliott will be at development camp." Lou Korac of NHL.com said.

"- Brian Elliott has joined the organization to help with goalie development and scouting." Matthew DeFranks said.

Elliott, a native of Newmarket, Ontario, was drafted in the ninth round (291st overall) by the Ottawa Senators in 2003. He went on to appear in 542 games in the NHL with the Senators, Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Philadelphia Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

In 542 games, Elliott had a record of 279-167-54, along with a 2.57 goals against average, a .909 save percentage and 44 shutouts. He also appeared in 48 Stanley Cup Playoff games with Ottawa, St. Louis and Philadelphia.

Goaltenders in the St. Louis Blues system are in good hands with Brian Elliott helping with their development and he'll be able to offer plenty of advice to help them during their journey to eventually the NHL one day.
