Erik Karlsson's preferred trade destination has been revealed
November 2022 was the first time rumours came out about Erik Karlsson wanting to be traded by the San Jose Sharks.
Nothing materialized at the trade deadline in early-March and again, nothing happened at the NHL Entry Draft in Nashville, but it appears that as the days pass, we're getting closer to Karlsson being dealt.
Karlsson has been linked to several teams over the last few weeks and even months at this point, including the Carolina Hurricanes, Seattle Kraken, Toronto Maple Leafs, among others.
According to Rob Rossi of The Athletic, Erik Karlsson's preferred trade destination is the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"Penguins, who have had multiple people speak with Erik Karlsson, are confident they're his preferred destination. They have multiple plans for how to acquire him if/when Shares decide to make a move.
Doesn't mean EK to PGH is a lock. But Penguins like their positioning." Rossi said.
Karlsson, 33, is coming off one of the best offensive seasons we've seen from a defenceman in NHL history. In 82 games, the Landsbro, Sweden native put up 101 points (25 goals, 76 assists), 36 penalty minutes and was a minus-26. He has four years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $11.5 million.
