Oft-injured left winger Max Pacioretty hasn't participated in a full season in the National Hockey League since appearing in all 82 games during the 2015-16 while a member of the Montreal Canadiens but a writer for The Hockey News believes that if given the opportunity at getting a PTO, he would be able to help one Western Conference team in need of some veteran leadership up front to mentor their young core.
Max Miller has suggested that the San Jose Sharks should reach out to Pacioretty and his camp to offer him a pro tryout as he believes as long as he stays healthy he can be a productive member of a team and provide what the Sharks currently lack.
It would be a massive gamble if the Sharks decided to sign Pacioretty to a guaranteed contract, but at thirty-five years of age he can be productive, so signing him to a PTO wouldn't hurt the team or the New Canaan, CT native either way.
In forty-seven games with the Washington Capitals a year ago, Pacioretty accumulated 4 goals to go along with 19 assists. In the right role, which is likely in the bottom six he could likely provide limited yet key minutes helping the likes of Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, Thomas Bordeleau & Ty Dellandrea who could very well be part of the long-term future of the franchise.
