A positive update has been issued regarding Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov
Back in 2020, the Toronto Maple Leafs used their first-round pick to select Russian forward Rodion Amirov and there was plenty of hype surrounding the prospect, with the hopes he would come over to North America a few years afterwards.
Sadly, Amirov's career has come to a temporary halt after being diagnosed with a brain tumour back in February of 2022. He underwent surgery and continues to undergo treatment back in Russia.
Salavat Yulaev Ufa's General Director Rinat Bashirov issued a very positive statement on Rodion Amirov.
"He continues treatment, there is a positive trend. He has full confidence that he will go on the ice. Of course, if Rodion played for us, it would be a completely different team. I can tell that he has matured a lot. He continues to work, his parents and we support him very much, and, of course, Rodion took the signing of the contract positively. We pray for him. I believe that he will return, we are all waiting for him." Bashirov said.
It's really good to hear that Amirov's treament is trending positively. All of us here at BladeOfSteel send our thoughts and prayers to Amirov and hope to see him back on the ice as soon as he is able to!
