Moments ago, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news that Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas will not return to the team.
Dubas was at the end of his contract this year, and amid speculation of whether or not the team would re-hire him, Dubas broke expectations by revealing he may step away for family reasons in his end of season press conference.
It is expected the Maple Leafs will hold a press conference this afternoon announcing the departure of both Dubas and head coach Sheldon Keefe. Dubas made it clear that it was either Toronto or taking time off to be with his family.
Hopefully Dubas finds whatever he's looking for in his post Toronto career.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have since confirmed this news via a statement of their own.
