Leafs Reward Defenceman With Contract After Knocking Out One Of Their Top Prospects
The Toronto Maple Leafs wanted to change the flavor of the team this off-season. They accomplished this by adding more grit with the additions of Ryan Reaves, Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi.
General Manager Brad Treliving added some depth to the Toronto Marlies today announcing the signings of forwards Jackson Berezowski, Brock Caufield, Neil Shea, Tate Singleton and Tyler Weiss and defenceman Nolan Dillingham to one-year AHL contracts.
You may remember Dillingham from his display during the development camp scrimmage last Saturday.
The 21 year old Dillingham laid a rare bone-crushing hit on one of Toronto's top prospects Roni Hirvonen. Hirvonen fell back, hitting his head on the ice. He laid motionless afterward. Hirvonen was eventually able to leave the ice under his own power, but later found out he suffered a concussion.
The 21 year old Hirvonen was selected 59th overall pick by the Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
