Police are alleging a 31-year-old from Ancaster bit an officer and spat at members of security at the game Saturday night between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche at Scotiabank Arena. A statement from Toronto police says the incident happened just before 10 pm when security tried to check on the wellbeing of a man who then became confrontational with them. Police allege the man assaulted three security guards, and a police officer who was called to the scene to make an official arrest.
This comes after this video started making its rounds Sunday morning. It is from Scotiabank arena, and shows a man being arrested in a very rough manner.
Why is this dipshit security guard at the Scotiabank Arena viciously kneeing a Leafs fan in the head until he's bleeding, while he's already restrained?
Is this the level of abusive treatment by security that fans should expect at NHL games? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/dW5qxoUWEZ /r/Habs (@HabsOnReddit) January 15, 2024
Police have not commented on the video. However, MLSE, ownership group for the Toronto Maple Leafs, said it was aware of the video and was conducting a full investigation in cooperation with Toronto Police.
William Anderson is due to appear in court in Toronto to answer to the allegations on March 12.
