The days of the enforcer are quickly going away before our eyes, but in the minor leagues, Daniel Amesbury is trying to keep it alive.

Amesbury has been known for his wild play on the ice which has landed him in hot water on several occasions over the years including a 12-game suspension in early 2023 and an 18-game suspension in December for attempting to injury an opponent.

While Amesbury has yet to serve all 18 games of his current suspension, the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) has decided enough is enough with his actions and have banned him indefinitely.

"Effective immediately, the FPHL has decided to place Daniel Amesbury on an Indefinite Suspension from the league. He will no longer be allowed to participate in any practices or on ice functions at any capacity with any team in the FPHL. This decision has come after much discussion over the past few weeks with members of our league Board of Governors, attorney's, & FPHL Staff. The leagues dedication to improving player safety comes first and foremost. The FPHL has the right to deny any personnel from participating in FPHL games if its deemed in the best interest of the league."

The 33-year-old has only skated in nine games this season for the FPHL's Danbury Hat Trick where he's tallied two goals and 72 penalty minutes. Last season, the Maple Ridge, British Columbia native had 298 penalty minutes in 29 games, following that up with 47 penalty minutes in five games during the playoffs.
