One of the Leafs Core 4 Submits his No-trade List to Toronto's GM
It seems like a sure sign something is in the works. With NHL Free Agency opening today, a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs 'Core 4' has submitted his 10-team no-trade list to management. While this doesn't necessarily mean William Nylander is already out the door, it seems Toronto is putting the pressure on to either get a deal done, or get something in return before he walks to free agency.
Current Deal
Nylander has one-year left on his contract, with a cap hit of $6.96 million. After hitting the 40-goal mark in 2022-23, he is certainly going to get a raise on his next deal. With Auston Matthews, John Tavares, and Mitch Marner on the books, that's going to be difficult for GM Brad Treliving to do (even more so considering Matthews is also up for renewal as well). Nylander's 10-team list of teams he doesn't want to be shipped to did not come into effect until the final year of his deal, which starts today.
