There's lots of time left in the 2023-24 season, but the Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly talking to teams to gauge what the market would be for a new addition.

According to Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, GM Brad Treliving wants another top-six winger at an affordable cost.

"They're only six games in, but the Toronto Maple Leafs may be getting a head start on potential targets for later in the season. The team has been gauging the future market on a cost-effective top-six winger."

The hunt for another top-winger may be due to concerns with new acquisition Tyler Bertuzzi. He's dealing with a minor injury, but has had a slow start to the year, especially for someone playing in the top line.

The biggest issue for the Leafs in attempting to add someone new is, of course, cap space. More specifically, the lack of it. Toronto currently has just over $100,000 in cap space, far less than what is needed to add a player making the league minimum.
