If you've seen the video, it was fairly obvious this would happen. The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Timothy Liljegren on Long-term Injured Reserve (LTIR).

Two days ago, Liljegren got tangled up with Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins and went into the boards hard and at a dangerous angle. He left the game and did not return.

Sadly, Liljegren will miss the chance to represent the Maple Leafs on the ice in his home country of Sweden as Toronto is facing Detroit in Stockholm on November 17th.

Many felt Marchand deserved a penalty on the play, and/or a suspension/fine. It seems Liljegren's decision to swerve at the last second is the reason why there was no call and no supplemental punishment.

Placing a player on LTIR means a minimum of 10 games missed. While no one has said exactly how long Liljegren will be out, I'd be susprised if he was back at the minimum.
