Ilya Samsonov gives all-time quote following shutout win vs Buffalo
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov had one of the quotes of the season following his shutout win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.
The Buffalo Sabres peppered 34 shots on Ilya Samsonov on Saturday night but couldn't find the back of the net, as the Maple Leafs netminder picked up his third shutout of the 2023-24 season.
After the game, Samsonov met with reporters and was asked about his shutout given the last time he was in Buffalo, he allowed five goals on 19 shots as Toronto lost 9-3. Samsonov gave an all-time quote to the media:
"What happened last time? Nine goals? F--k that shit." Samsonov said.
Samsonov, 27, started out the season with a bit of a tough stretch and was inconsistent for the Maple Leafs. On January 1st, the Maple Leafs placed Samsonov on waivers and the next day, assigned him to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL to work on his game. After a week in the AHL and not playing any games, the Maple Leafs brought Samsonov back up to the big club and ever since, he's played quite well.
In 35 games this season, Samsonov has a record of 20-6-7 with a 3.03 goals against average, an .893 save percentage and three shutouts.
