The Maple Leafs are expected to be in the middle of things this week as rumours ramp up before Friday's deadline and it looks as if Brad Treliving is interested in adding another blueliner.
In an article on The Fourth Period, it's being reported that Treliving is looking to acquire another defenceman and the team has been linked to five defenceman, three of whom - David Savard, Colton Parayko and Joel Edmundson - are Stanley Cup champions.
With the Maple Leafs being tight to the cap, any trade they make will require them to move money out and/or ask a third team to get involved for retention purposes.
The interesting thing about the five defencemen the Maple Leafs have been linked to is that three of them are under contract beyond this season, with Matt Dumba and Joel Edmundson being unrestricted free agents on July 1st. David Savard has one year remaining on his contract beyond 2023-24, Mario Ferraro has two years, while Colton Parayko, who would be the hardest player to bring in, has five years with an average annual value of $6.5 million.
Toronto's first round pick is reportedly in play as well and it'll be interesting to see if Brad Treliving parts with it before 3 p.m. ET next Friday.
Which of the three Stanley Cup champions that the Maple Leafs are linked to would be the best fit for Toronto? Let us know what you think in the poll below!
