Rodion Amirov's Sister Posts Heartfelt Message On Her Social Media On The One-Year Anniversary of Rodion's passing.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward prospect Rodion Amirov courageously lost his battle with brain cancer one year ago today. Drafted 15th overall during the 2020 NHL Draft. In April 2021, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with Toronto. He returned to Russia to play for the Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL for 2021-22 season.
The Russian forward was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February 2022.
Amirov's sister Polina took to her social media to express how she feels about her brother on the one-year anniversary of his passing:
"My dear Rodya...
Today is exactly a year since you left for Heaven, and my heart is still shattered to pieces. I miss you every second. Your smile, your laughter, your voice, filled with life, now remain only in my heart.
You are the one with whom I shared my deepest secrets and the one to whom I immediately ran when I was sad and bad, knowing that you would always calm me down and protect me.
You always told me: "Don't be afraid of anything, I will always be here"
You were not only my brother, but also my best friend, my support, my encouragement, and now I miss you so much.
You taught me perseverance and faith, taught me to never give up, to be wise and strong....
You are my hero.
I know that you are always there, I feel it, you continue to live in the hearts of everyone who loves you.
My kindest, brightest, strongest most beautiful boy
I can handle everything I promise.
I dream of seeing you again, whenever that happens.
After all, no one says goodbye forever.
I miss you and love you endlessly.
Your little sister..."
Beautiful words written by Rodion's sister. You can tell through her writing how much her big brother truly meant to her.
