Sad news surfaced today from the hockey world as the Toronto Maple Leafs announced former goaltender Ed Chadwick had passed away. The Maple Leafs shared the news on their account on X and provided the following message.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Leafs netminder Ed Chadwick.
Ed played in 140 consecutive games in net for the Leafs, and is the last Leafs goalie to play in every game in a season. He played five seasons for Toronto, winning 57 games.
Our condolences are with his friends and family.
Chadwick has his name etched on the Stanley Cup three times and as mentioned played in 140 consecutive games. He is the last Leafs goalie to have played in every single game during a season.
In his professional career, Chadwick played for both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins. After his time in the NHL, he continued playing in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and Buffalo Bison for 6 years, before retiring.
At the time of his passing Chadwick was 90 years old. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Chadwick family during this difficult time.
