The Utah Hockey Club are expected to make a name change for next season, and now we know the three finalists after they missed out on a huge trademark, with fans certainly not happy about it in the comments of the announcement.

For months now, speculation has been in overdrive about the future of the Utah Hockey Club, and after their trademark for the Utah Yeti was denied, the future name of the team has been up in the air.

Now, the next step in the plan has been revealed by ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, as he announced that the team name will be decided by a fan vote, with the three finalists for the new name being;

Utah Hockey Club.
Utah Mammoth.
Utah Wasatch. Basically a replacement for «Utah Yeti»

Over the off-season, names such as Utah Venom, Utah Blizzard and Utah Outlaws were all suggested as potential names, and given the reaction to the announcement from Wyshynski, it's safe to say that fans in Salt Lake City and all around the world would much prefer those three over any of the finalists.

Out of those three, the prevailing opinion on social media is that 'Mammoth' is the best option of them, but given that they've had a year to figure the best options out, it's safe to say that none of them are overly exciting for a team that should be thrilled and hyped about the scenario.

However, over the summer when names were faced with backlash, it forced owner Ryan Smith and the team to pivot, so if fans treat these three the exact same way, don't be surprised to see the organization or indeed the NHL to force a change for the newest name of NHL franchise No. 32.
