Tyler Toffoli is one of the more prominent names on the free agent market this summer. The former Stanley Cup champion is coming off back-to-back seasons with 30 or more goals and could be a valuable middle-six piece for a contending team looking for scoring depth.
There's no doubt that there will be plenty of interest in Tyler Toffoli once the free agent market opens up on Canada Day and according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, two teams that could be in the mix are the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks. Pagnotta says that the Kings and Canucks had interest in trading for Toffoli this season, but he ended up in Winnipeg.
The Scarborough, Ontario native is no stranger to either team. He was drafted by the Kings in 2010 and spent parts of eight seasons with them, winning a Stanley Cup in 2014, before being traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2020. Toffoli appeared in 17 games for Vancouver between the regular season and playoffs, scoring eight goals.
Toffoli appeared in 79 games this season with the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets, where he had 55 points (33 goals, 22 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a minus-six. He went on to add two goals in five games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In one month from today, unrestricted free agency begins and with many teams looking for scoring, it'll be interesting to see where Tyler Toffoli will end up and how many organizations end up offering him a contract.
