The Vancouver Canucks have been a busy team as of late, but according to a top insider, there's no plans to trade Elias Pettersson in the immediate future, with the team having to make some massive decisions before the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
The past few weeks have been full of non-stop drama and speculation in Vancouver, but after the team officially parted ways with J.T. Miller, they've now turned their attention to Elias Pettersson.
Recent reports had speculated that the team were indeed looking to move both Pettersson and Miller given the effect that their feud had on the team, but with Miller now gone, it appears as though they're going to give EP40 time to see how he settles in and leads this team moving forward.
That is according to Elliotte Friedman anyway, who speculates that the team are dialling back trade talks for the immediate future, with his performances between now and the March 7 trade deadline likely to determine the moves they make moving forward.
If they do want to end up moving him, Vancouver have several suitors for Pettersson, including Buffalo, Philadelphia and Columbus who all stand out as teams that need star power down the middle and have pieces to move in a deal, with the Canucks reportedly open to doing business throughout the last few weeks on their 26-year old star centre.
Ultimately, the team needed to break up the feud of Miller and Pettersson, and now that they've done that, many believe keeping Pettersson is the way forward, but if the organization have any hard feelings around him given his role in the situation, don't be shocked to see him moved if he can't elevate his play and the team in the next few weeks.
